Right click -> "Open in new Tab/Window" for non-retargeted links that you want in a new tab or window. No such alternative exists for links that specify a target.
Also you can set your web browser to open EVERYTHING in a new tab/window if you are super gay and a homo. Otherwise, you understand and can use your back button, which by the way is simply "Backspace," and does not even require the "command" key.
